Job Description

KDC are currently working with one of the few companies in the world proposing to aid in the removal of orbital debris through the provision of End of Life (EOL) and Active Debris Removal (ADR) services. In addition to providing a technical solution, Our client is helping to define the business case for this service and are working with national space agencies, international institutions, non-profit organizations, insurance companies and satellite operators to develop norms, regulations and incentives that contribute to the responsible use of space.

Having already received $130m worth of funding since 2013, our client is looking to add a Satellite Electrical Harness Engineer to the team based in Tokyo, Japan.

oDesign electrical system harness for satellites such as harness connection design, harness rooting design, mechanical bracket design.
oCoordinate with subsystem engineers regarding electrical connections for harness design.
oCoordinate technical interface with cable suppliers regarding cable specifications.
oDraw specifications for electrical cables/harnesses.
oManage procurement and shipping status of cable vendors and harnesses manufacturers in terms of technical aspects.
oManage ICDs (Interface Control Documents) of satellite subsystems and components for harness design.
oDesign and procure test harnesses for conducting electrical tests, including subsystem tests.
oEvaluate and review test results of cables/harnesses.

Essential Skills
oMinimum 6+ years of experience working as a harness design engineer.
oBasic knowledge of electrical system engineering such as satellite electronics system, car electronics system, medical electronics system, etc.
oKnowledge of mechanical engineering, cables, harnessing, and connectors.
oKnowledge and experience in manufacturing system harness.
oAble to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
oEnglish language capability TOEIC 600+.
oNear native level Japanese skill.

Desired Skills
oKnowledge of FMEA (Failure Mechanism and Effects Analysis)/FTA (Failure Tree Analysis).
oKnowledge of MIL standards (United States Military Standard) and ESA standards (European Space Agency Standard). Especially MIL cable specifications and derating criteria.
oBasic knowledge of EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility).
