Job Description

The ideal candidate is a passionate, self-motivated, and detail-oriented team player who is committed to producing top quality work every time. This individual should be self-sufficient and responsible for all technical guidance in all aspects of inspection. With a commitment toward process improvement of department activities. You will need strong technical knowledge, as well as effective problem solving, communication and leadership skills. Experience in a similar position is preferable although not necessary. The ideal candidate will also have a good understanding of basic quality functions, Inspection/engineering studies and PPAP and be fully experienced with using manual and auto CMM Machines, as well as having extensive experience working to strict quality standards.
Principal Accountabilities:
·Inspection to drawing / component definition, procedures and customer specifications.
·Goods inward inspection.
·Interpret customer specifications and design/implement an effective quality program.
·Completing inspection documentation as necessary.
·Generate CMM programs
·Generate and methodically review professional reports of measurement results.
·Lead and manage inspection team.
·Raising non-conformance reports and corrective documentation.
·Assist and support other inspectors with dimensional inspection.
·Generate and methodically review professional reports of measurement results.
·Review & Completion of First Articles Inspection Reports (FAIR) and PPAP approval documentation.
·Release conforming product in accordance with customer requirements (Certificate of Conformance).
·Assist in determining root cause and implement corrective action for customer complaints and product defects.
·Create and maintain inspection related documents, manufacturing and test records to satisfy the quality requirements of customers and internal procedures, in conjunction with manufacturing personnel.
·Control equipment which influences quality to ensure it is maintained in good condition and, when appropriate, within calibration / certification.
·Participate in internal quality audits.
·Interface with suppliers and customers concerning program quality requirements.
·Interface with a variety of personnel in support of product quality including operators, quality engineers, inspectors, shop floor supervisors, manufacturing engineers and managers.
·Participate in new product development and failure investigations.
·Assist in maintaining a clean working environment, in order to ensure clean components, free from contamination and foreign objects, and consistent quality environmental and health and safety standards.
·Use of appropriate quality tools - Six Sigma, 5Y's, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement.
Person Specification:
·Adequate experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
·Adequate experience as a Quality Inspector.
·Dimensional inspect and program using CMMs and metrology equipment.
·Preferred educational background in a technical/engineering subject, or time-served with a recognised apprenticeship.
·Production floor experience in defect reduction and process improvement.
·Proficient IT skills including MS-Office (primarily, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
·Proficient using various inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators.
·Proficient ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
·Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all employee levels.
·Ability to work well under deadlines and pressure.
·Attention to detail and accuracy.
·Fluent in English, both written and oral.
