ADS Group reports that July 2017 saw record deliveries of commercial aircraft.
The number of UK commercial aircraft deliveries is once again at record levels. A number of global customers drove the July figures to a record 107 aircraft delivered which could be worth up to £2.2bn to UK industry. This brings the number of aircraft delivered in 2017 to 771, a very strong performance.
The order backlog now stands at a sizeable 13.5k which is worth a staggering £220bn to the UK economy. This is equivalent to 9 years work in hand.
The Chief Executive of ADS Group, Paul Everitt, commented: “Matching the record-setting pace of 2016 delivery rates demonstrates industry’s focus on improving productivity and capacity to support growing global demand is paying off.
“This is great news for the aerospace industry which is on track for another successful year, underlining the UK’s competitiveness.
“The high level of global demand for new aircraft means UK companies are increasing production, despite Brexit uncertainty. It will be important to secure a good Brexit deal for UK aerospace and protect our hard-won global competitiveness.”
