One of KDC’s clients are currently looking for a Lead Design Engineer to join the team based in Filton, Bristol. (Hybrid Working) This client is one of the global leaders in Aerospace, Space and Defence.
 
Lead Design Engineer Job Specification:
The A350 Wing engineering team in Filton is expanding to enable the continued development of Airbus' most modern and efficient aircraft. Opportunities have arisen for Lead Design Engineers to join the A350 Incremental Development Wing Engineering team.
About us:
A350 is the Flagship Airbus product and within the A350 Wing Incremental Development team we are working towards the future development of the Wing Structure. The activities vary significantly from Weight & Cost reductions all the way through to developing the structure to be capable for the next Aircraft variant.
The Wing team is trailblazing the way within the A350 Airframe Major Components with innovative use of advanced materials and digital capability. The wing design is at the forefront of structural engineering advancement across multiple topics in support of Design to Cost, Weight Saving and Product Development (including A350 Freighter). Our goal is to continue to be the leading team across all topics and ways of working to add more continued opportunities to the next and future product developments and digitalisation.
We are a highly motivated team of Engineers focused on constantly challenging the current design and conventional thinking in order to maximise profitability whilst ensuring the quality is not degraded.

What you will be doing:
The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • You will be supporting and Leading Design activities and assist the resolution of structural problems through the use of appropriate methods
  • Detailed creation of milestones and deliveries planning and the associated resource planning in collaboration with the Delivery team Leader
  • Ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities guidelines.
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders, i.e. Chief Engineers, Programme, Procurement, Final Assembly Line, Plant, etc.
  • Perform Design studies into feasibility of projects
  • Generation of Data for Manufacture along with Approval / Authorisation of data created by others · Continuous quality monitoring of all inputs and where applicable instigate processes to recover quality
  • Integrate across all functions to ensure robust generation of business case proposals About You: We are preferably looking for candidates with the following skills and competences:
  • Experience with leading complex technical challenges
  • Experience in problem solving techniques
  • Experience CATIA
  • Knowledge of Airbus policies, methods, and tools to ensure that all analyses align to relevant airworthiness requirements
  • Delegated Authority for Design approval or on the development path would be a plus
  • Dynamic individual with great team spirit, ability to clearly communicate concepts and ideas and willingness to develop

This role is Inside IR35 and the rate expectation is £42.94 per hour Umbrella. The contract is for an initial length of 6 months.
