Job Description
The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team carrying out testing at equipment and system levels capturing test evidence. This may involve testing across either of the main business areas of Air to Air Refuelling and Auxiliary Mission Equipment. The Test Engineer will be expected to follow current departmental processes. The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team at IPT level or at product level supporting test activities to demonstrate function and performance in environment.
The majority of the work will be carried out at external test facilities used by Cobham Mission Systems in the UK. Occasional overseas (infrequent) travel may be required.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications and experience for Development Engineers will ideally include:
• Relevant degree or equivalent
• Experience of requirements management tools (DOORS, CRADLE etc.)
• Knowledge of environmental standards (RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810 etc.)
• Experience of performing environmental and functional testing
• Experience of development engineering activities and understanding of product lifecycles.
They should have worked in the Aerospace test environment with particular experience working with RTCA DO160 & MIL-STD-810 standards testing products.
Candidates must have Environmental Test experience within an Aerospace arena and be able to document Quality Test Plans and Quality Test Results.
Candidates should have created / run test procedures in at least 7 of the following test scenarios:
Temperature, Altitude, Temperature Variation, Humidity, Operational Shock & Crash safety, Vibration, Explosion proof, Water proof, Fluids susceptibility, Sand & Dust, Fungus Resistance, Salt & Fog, Icing, ESD & Fire / Flammability.
Candidates should have specific experience of Controls and Indication, which would include system control, monitoring and indication.
