F&DT Lead Engineer
  
Reporting to the F&DT Team Leader, KDC require a F&DT Lead engineer to be part of their experienced engineering team based at our Bristol site. The role is broad in scope, covering everything from scoping fixed price tasks to supporting internal operations and customer operations.
  
The projects covered by this position supports covers aircraft primary structures for major aerospace and defence OEM’s. The successful candidate will be suitably experienced and be able to provide evidence of previous leadership abilities, sound engineering judgement along with scoping and managing fixed price packages.
  
Responsibilities include:
· Supporting the project management team to build WBS’s and project plans for fixed price tasks, this will cover static, F&DT and FEM analysis
· Customer liaison to understand their requirements and respond promptly with fixed price proposals
· Higlighting technical and commercial risks/assumptions in scoping fixed price tasks
· Overall responsibility for delivering each work package on time and cost including risk and change management
· Providing weekly internal and external highlight reports
· Support project management team with status updates on individual work packages
· Management of team of stress engineers
· Overall responsibility for quality of stress deliverables
· Checking of work package deliverables
· Where required perform analysis and reporting
· Mentoring and management of KDC Stress team
· Resource Management
· Supporting internal operations and customer operations
  
Key experiences and skills
  
· Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent
· A high level of relevant experience in aerospace or high integrity stress analysis roles
· Track record of signatory responsibility within the aerospace industry including approval of technical reports, drawings and Compliance Verification Experience of working with multi discipline technical teams and individuals
· Extensive experience required as F&DT Engineer at a senior level within the aerospace industry and able to demonstrate knowledge of and hands on capability of both classical hand calculation procedures and finite element methods.
· Analysis experience and approval of wide range of composite and metallic aircraft structure, preferably for aircraft structures.
· Knowledge of design analysis methods for repair to metallic and composite components, including internal and external repairs
· Established engineering capability and someone who can anticipate problems and plan to mitigate
· An able communicator in verbal, written and presentational forms
· Logical problem solver who can operate effectively under stretching project constraints
· High degree of commercial awareness with the ability to recognise and manage change, during the project cycle.
· Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills
· Capable of managing and motivating a diverse team in the delivery of innovative solutions
· ISAMI/Patran/Nastran/Hyperworks/ /MathCad/MS Office
· Knowledge of composite materials and associated analysis methods
· Knowledge of specialist non-linear methods
