People Manager – Software

KDC are now recruiting for one of the largest clients in the urban air mobility sector. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager with a background in embedded software to join their company in Germany. The ideal candidate for this position would have great experience with AGILE methodology and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
 
Our Client
Our client is an industry leader in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOL). They offer an air taxi service that can save people time by flying them directly to their destination. Our client is looking for a candidate that is passionate about eVTOL technology that will fit in with the brilliant working culture they are developing.
 
The Role
This position has surfaced following the extensive growth of the company. Your focus in this position will be to support your team and empower individuals to succeed. The company have transitioned into a matrix project organisation and work in an Agile environment which includes implementation of scaled agile framework (SAFe) and building communities of practice.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Disciplinary responsibility for up to 20 employees in the software group
  • Act as an Agile Evangelist to form self-empowered teams
  • Hire and onboard new employees
  • Identify gaps in the skillset of the teams and come up with solutions accordingly with the stakeholders
  • Support the team to create, align, and approve configuration plans, processes, and instructions with your expert knowledge
  • Identify personal development paths and plans for further development of the employees
  • Plan and oversee training in coordination with People & Organization
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in the team and listen closely to desires, complaints, and observations of each employee
  • Encourages knowledge sharing through building a software competent community 
  • Encourage the feedback culture
  • Identify and solve conflicts within the team
 
Qualifications
  • You have a solid hands-on background in software development and/or architect in safety-critical environments
  • Track record in international AAA companies or later stage start-ups and knows how to build and manage top-notch (engineering) teams
  • You are a true people enthusiast, and you know the science behind managing people in a business
  • You have proven to manage smaller and bigger software groups successfully and are able to motivate teams to their fullest potential
  • Knowledge in software standards for aerospace DOA or similar industries is advantageous
  • You have a clear picture and methodology of leadership and management, and you know how to make fair and forward-thinking decisions
  • You are eager to learn every day; therefore, you are up to date with the latest research on management and leadership
  • You are 100% familiar with organizational theories as well as with individual psychology and entrepreneurial decisions
  • You are able to communicate in English and one other language
