Protoype Aircraft Mechanic - Light Aircraft Manufacturer

KDC are now recruiting for one of the largest clients in the urban air mobility sector. This is an exciting opportunity for an aircraft mechanic with prototyping experience and good understanding of fibre composite structures to join an established eVTOL company in Germany. The ideal candidate would also have experience with safety management systems and have completed dedicated training as an aircraft builder/aircraft mechanic (EASA CAT-A or CAT-B license).
Our Client
Our client is an industry leader in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOL). They plan to offer an air taxi service that can save people time by flying them directly to their destination. Our client is looking for a candidate that is passionate about eVTOL technology that will fit in with the brilliant working culture they are developing.
The Role
This position has surfaced due to the extensive growth of the prototyping team. As the prototype aircraft mechanic/light aircraft manufacturer, you will be responsible for the integration, assembly, and repair of prototypes within the company. You would ideally come from a background in aircraft manufacturing and have a basic understanding of electrical drive technology and fibre composite construction.
Your tasks:
  • Repair of aircraft prototypes
  • Integration of test-articles into the prototypes
  • Cross-system coordination in production and prototype construction
  • Final assembly of individual components and prefabrication until completion of the whole aircraft
  • Lamination of parts and sub-assemblies
  • Maintenance and monitoring of the flying systems within the flight test and assistance in the test campaigns
  • Minimum 2 years prototyping experience (metal, welding, machining) in the automobile or aerospace industry
  • Basic understanding of avionic systems (troubleshooting, fabrication of harnesses, initial production of wiring)
  • Able to demonstrate problem-solving with a creative and a hands-on approach
  • Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawing
  • Able to use a drawing to manufacture an assembly or carry out an installation
  • Able to select the correct tools to carry out production tasks
  • Reliable, structured, and self-starter mindset
Preferred skills:
  • Experience in dealing with fibre composite structures
  • Experience in a Production Organization (PO)
  • Completed training as a light aircraft builder, aircraft mechanic (EASA CAT-A or CAT-B License), or comparable
  • Strong manual skills
  • Familiar with model making
