Having already received $130m worth of funding since 2013, our client is looking to add a Senior Command & Data Handling Engineer to the team based in Harwell, Japan.
oLead development and design activities for the Command & Data Handling Sub-systems on spacecraft:
oderive and maintain sub-system requirements
odefine and develop sub-system architecture
operform trade-off analysis of hardware & software solutions
omanage, subsystem data and processing budgets
odefine FMECA and FDIR processes
oCoordinate with other teams at sub-system and at system level to define ConOps, ICDs, development and verification plans.
oPlan, prepare, lead, conduct electrical sub-systems and system level verification tests, including environmental testing.
oWork with the UK based Ground segment and operations teams in support of our mission operations globally.
oInteract with partners and suppliers for the provision of C&DH equipment. Support procurement engineers with specification, trade-off and selection of C&DH equipment.
oParticipate in review of the deliverables in support of the project milestones.
Essential Skills & Experience
oDiploma; bachelor or master's degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineering/science discipline.
o5+ years of commercial experience in electronic and/or system design of Command & Data Handling Systems for satellites.
oDemonstrable experience on designing systems that use industry de-facto standards such as CCSDS, I2C, Spacewire, CAN, etc.
oOperational experience of C&DH systems on spacecraft missions.
oExperience in developing and conducting test plans for spacecraft avionics.
oGood understanding of spacecraft mission lifecycle and milestones (e.g. MDR, PDR, CDR, etc).
oGood understanding of system engineering & managing requirements through the full project lifecycle.
Desired Skills & Experience
oDemonstrable experience of spacecraft design lifecycle at all stages from initial concept to design, test, and operations.
oKnowledge of software development methodologies & embedded software engineering.
oExperience in FPGA (field-programmable gate array) design using Verilog / VHDL.
oExperience of analysis radiation tolerances and knowledge of radiation hardness assurance for Low Earth Orbit applications.
oA basic knowledge in the following areas: debris removal, end-of-life, in-orbit servicing.
oWhilst the working language across all our clients divisions is English, proficiency in spoken and/or written Japanese would be considered an asset.
