Having already received $130m worth of funding since 2013, our client is looking to add a Senior Spacecraft RF & Communication System Engineer to the team based in Harwell, Oxfordshire.
oLead development and design activities for RF & Comms sub-systems on spacecraft:
oderive and maintain sub-system requirements
odefine and develop sub-system architecture
operform trade-off analysis of hardware & software solutions
odeveloping link budgets
odefine FMECA and FDIR processes
oCoordinate with other teams at sub-system and at system level to define ConOps, ICDs, development and verification plans.
oPlan, prepare, lead, conduct sub-systems and system level verification tests, including environmental testing.
oWork with the UK based Ground segment and operations teams in support of our mission operations globally.
oInteract with partners and suppliers for the provision of RF/comms equipment. Support procurement engineers with specification, trade-off and selection of RF/Comms equipment.
oParticipate in review of the deliverables in support of the project milestones.
Essential Skills & Experience
oDiploma; bachelor or master degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineering/science discipline.
o5+ years of commercial experience RF design & test of high-performance microwave communications systems for satellites.
oUnderstanding of RF communications and various modulation techniques.
oExperience using RF and microwave test equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers and signal generators) and simulation tools.
oOperational experience of RF systems on spacecraft missions.
oExperience in developing and conducting test plans for spacecraft avionics.
oGood understanding of spacecraft mission lifecycle and milestones (e.g. MDR, PDR, CDR, etc).
oGood understanding of system engineering & managing requirements through the full project lifecycle.
Desired Skills & Experience
oDemonstrable experience of spacecraft design lifecycle at all stages from initial concept to design, test, and operations.
oExperience of analysis radiation tolerances and knowledge of radiation hardness assurance for Low Earth Orbit applications.
oWhilst the working language across all our clients divisions is English, proficiency in spoken and/or written Japanese would be considered an asset.
