System Safety Engineer

Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced System Safety Engineer to work on a Permanent basis. The System Safety Engineer should have at least 5 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defence sectors and be comfortable in a customer-facing role. As a System Safety Engineer, you will be carrying out a wide range of Safety Engineering activities across a variety of Defence projects.

Essential Skills

• Experience in carrying out Hazard Identification and Hazard Analysis.
• Experience in carrying out Fault Tree Analysis (e.g. Isograph Reliability Workbench).
• Familiarity with ARP4754A, or DO178C/DO254 and ARP4761
• Experience in the production and maintenance of Safety Reports and Plans:
           o e.g. Safety Case Reports and Safety Management Plans.
• Good understanding of Systems Engineering principles.
• Hazard Log Management.
• Experience working on complex systems (e.g. Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear).
• Experience working with DE&S and following the ASEMS process.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple projects.

Advantageous Skills

• Requirements management.
• Experience with Failure Modes, Effects (and Criticality) Analysis.
• Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering.
• Experience working with IEC 61508.
• Understanding of safety assurance of software and/or complex hardware.
• Understanding / experience working with DEF STAN 07-85.
• Electronics Engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Ideally, be degree-qualified in an Engineering discipline.
• Candidates will ideally be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience.
• Candidates MUST be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
