  • Antenna Design Engineer

    KDC Resource is currently supporting a large aerospace engineering organisation looking for an Antenna Design Engineer to be based in Marlow.

    Overview:
    At Marlow, the Client design and manufacture active and passive avionics antennas and electronic control systems for military and civil communications, navigation and search and rescue applications. They pioneered frequency agile VHF tuneable antennas and continue to be a key supplier to major avionics companies. Their GPS anti-jam technology utilises state of the art DSP algorithms with an active antenna to eliminate both narrow-band and wide-band jamming signals. Both military and civil users rely on their direction finding systems for search and rescue operations.

    The Client develop and manufacture high specification sector and multi-sector, directional, omni-directional, ultra-wideband (UWB) and MIMO antennas.

    A wide range of products are available for customers, small and large, worldwide in Commercial, Military, Satellite and Security markets.

    Tasks & Responsibilities:
    You will be working with a team of around ten other antenna design engineers on a wide variety of designs. This would typically cover the full development cycle from requirements capture, system level design, concept development, simulation, prototyping, build, through to verification and production handover.

    Effectively the Antenna Design Engineer will act as the Subject Matter Expert for Antenna's.
    They will mentor and lead the incumbent team and act as the technical interface between the business and the Project Managers.

    Essential Skills:
    • A solid theoretical underpinning in electromagnetic and circuit theory
    • Familiarity with one or more electromagnetic solvers (for example CST MWS, FEKO, HFSS)
    • Must have experience of Antenna design and active / passive RF and Microwave circuit design experience
    • Must have experience of GPS Patch Antenna design (sub 2GHz Band)
    • Must have a Degree in Antenna Design, Electronic/Electrical or Communications (but the degree would have to include Antenna Design).
    • Experience of Leading and mentoring a team (from a technical perspective).

    You will be working with sensitive data and as such you should be willing to undergo BPSS (Baseline) & Disclosure Barring Service Checks before being able to commence the contract

    This vacancy is for a Commodity Manager within strategic procurement.
    As a Commodity Manager, you are a vital part in the procurement and supply chain community. You are in charge of securing supplier lines, to deliver value for money and to develop structured relationships with key suppliers. The main responsibility is to develop and execute a strategy for your commodity which includes supplier evaluation, supplier financial analysis, risk management, make or buy analyses, negotiations and long-term contract establishment with suppliers. You will develop a solid working knowledge of certain commodity trends including: cost drivers, global pricing, market and industry trends and material lead times to maintain availability of cost-effective supplies of materials, equipment and services.
    Commodity management requires a strategic and robust plan to ensure that both value and risk is managed correctly, and innovation is encouraged. The role of a commodity manager is very complex and it has to be undertaken by someone who is capable of understanding markets, the supply chain and how the business works. You will work with Multifunctional Teams - MFT (with members from different functions like e.g. Engineering, Finance, PMO, Quality etc.) to secure the successful management of your Commodity.
    Your commodity will be Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Services procurement. You will work with established worldwide operating providers such as Iberia, Sabena Technics, FlyBe, Air Nostrum and as well with local champions that need to be industrially developed. You will not only work with Airbus' own a/c portfolio (A400M, MRTT, C295 etc.) but also with a/c from other manufacturers.
    With your work, you will contribute to the expansion of our successful military a/c fleet and related services, which is a vital part of Airbus Defence and Space growth strategy.

    You will be contributing to the successful development and entry into service of a new aircraft and assuring that type certification is compliant to all applicable avionics environmental requirements. You will be involved in planning the qualification activities relating to new avionics and new development.

    Functions
    • Analyse Qualification Test Documentation and provide expertise to the Avionics Systems Designer relating to RTCA/DO-160 Environmental Qualification. Evaluating the Supplier's QT Data against DO-160 and requirements.
    • Participate in Avionic Test Plan Analysis.
    • Coordinate with Avionics Design Team, Electromagnetic Effects group and Suppliers to resolve any open items/comments/deviation or missing information in the qualification supplier's evidences (QTP, QTR, QSAR, TSO, etc.)
    • Closure of the TSOA/ QTRs/ QSARs findings and deviations;
    • Identify the additional test required for qualification and prepare the appropriate documentation (RFQ, QTplan, QTP, QTR) assuring compliance of test plans and artefacts with the company standards.

    Job Requirements:
    Minimum 5+ years of broad avionics engineering experience. Including 5 years' experience specific to company test and certification test (Rig, Ground, Flight).

    Must be familiar with:
